Designing With Warm Metallics: Copper, Bronze, and Brass
If you remember our 2018 Design Trends blog post, we said warm metallics were going to be huge. So far the trend is so hot it's threatening to break the internet. Trendy or not, there's something about this finish, whether it's copper or brushed brass that never goes out of style. Here are just a few ways to give your interior a shimmer of warmth.
Since most bathtubs are white, offset that bright ceramic porcelain surface with filler and faucet that have that aged patina. A little contrast goes a long way.
Copper trim pendant lights casts a cheerful glow over a dining room table, kitchen counter or island, or along the hallway. And the good news is faux-metal finish works just as well: It's the reflectivity of the surface that's important for creating that irresistible glow that ranges from honey to fiery orange.
Towel racks, robe hooks, and other hardware accents in the bathroom are cost-effective one-and-done approaches. Mix and match pieces or get a full set for a more uniform look. New handles on kitchen cabinets, dresser drawers, or vanity doors is a fast, easy refresh. You would be amazed at how metal knobs and pulls not only catch the light but really stand out against unvarnished or weathered wood. Glass shelves with warm-colored metal base plates creates a cool effect too.
Cover Plates: Light Switch/Outlet
Whether you've got crazy colorful wall paper patterns or plain white walls, matching lightswitch and outlet covers in Polished Brass lend your room an extra dimension. They're just as easy to clean as conventional white plastic ones and are for more durable.
Wall Coverings & Paint
From amber to rose gold, all kinds of warm metallic wallpapers are available these days. Maykke's own Alice 29.5' x 21" Textured Wallpaper is made from an eco-friendly wood-pulp based material that boasts 3D stereoscopic technology for an eye-catching gold-thread weave effect. Not a wallpaper person? Then get your shine on with a few coats of metallic specialty paints from Modern Masters or Benjamin Moore's Studio Finishes line.
